First of all, track how you use your computer. One reason that even new PCs get bogged down is that their owners typically run too many programs at one time. Simply closing the ones that you don’t need at the moment can help. While your computer may handle the load, it will start to suffer after a few months of continuous use.

Another reason why your PC might be slowing down is because of the number of new programs that you installed. Some of these programs may be running by default in the background. This means that it may be operating, but you do not see it. This is a common way for some malware to operate. Only download those programs that you are sure that you will use regularly.

One simple program that helps to optimize your PC is the cleanup. While it has various uses, what you will be focusing on is the deletion of the temporary internet files. If you haven’t done this in a while, you may be surprised to find that these small files may have accumulated overtime and they may now take up several hundred megabytes or even a couple of gigabytes of your hard disk space. These files only speed up your online browsing by a few milliseconds, but they are largely unnecessary.

To perform a clean up, first go to the accessories menu on your PC. Once the program is running, you will find several options available. For now, you can select the temporary files first. You can also select your recycle bin if you want. You may have to restart your system in order for the changes to take effect.
